Sunburns, Snapper, and the Scent of Marathon

We rolled into Port St. Joseph as a full crew, my family, my cousin’s family, and my aunt and mom, posted up in an absurdly huge beach house next to the pristine shores of Joseph Peninsula State Park. It was nothing but white sand, clear water, and serious relaxation… until the fishing rods came out. My cousin and I landed red snapper and mackerel, which quickly turned into legendary fish tacos that may or may not have changed lives.

From there, the trip leveled up. We detoured through Orlando to scoop up my shiny new KTM 1290 Adventure (because yes, I impulse-bought a motorcycle mid-trip), then cruised down to the Keys with my mom, headed straight for one of her bucket list dreams: Dry Tortugas. Flying in made it even more epic.

Unfortunately, our stop in Marathon came with a stench, thanks to a biblical wave of sargassum seaweed. But we powered through, capped it all off with a day trip by bike to Key West with my daughter, and officially unlocked the full Florida experience: beachside bonding, airborne bucket lists, and a touch of seaweed horror.
