A casual 7,000-mile “vacation” that started in Ohio and somehow turned into a full-blown expedition. We hiked in Banff and Jasper, gasped our way through Glacier, channeled our inner cowboy in Cody, white-knuckled it over Beartooth Pass, and befriended goats, rocks, and thunder in the Black Hills and Badlands. We saw a million trees, swam in a thousand lakes, and saw enough bison to form a small militia.
