Loaded up the camper and pointed it west for another family adventure through Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. Along the way we hit up the St. Louis Arch, conquered Pikes Peak, wandered Garden of the Gods, sledded down dunes at Great Sand Dunes National Park, cooled off in the Arkansas River, hopped a steam train from Durango to Silverton, explored Mesa Verde (where I may have “forgotten” to mention Balcony House involved ladders and cliff edges to Andrea), devoured the famous swinging (still) steak in Mexican Hat, rattled everyone’s nerves driving the Moki Dugway to Muley Point and Goosenecks, explored Monument Valley, swung by the Grand Canyon, swam in Abiquiu Lake, and somehow found ourselves driving through a herd of longhorns after spotting bison in the Wichita Mountains. We even stumbled upon a fire breathing dragon in Vandalia, Illinois.
Of course, it wouldn’t be one of our trips without a little chaos. Andrea spent the first half of vacation sick, upgraded to pink eye, and had to break out the legendary Bunsen Honeydew 10 inch thick glasses. A rock shattered the camper’s front window in New Mexico, the side skirt tried to escape in Texas, and somehow we still came home smiling. Just another successful Misel family vacation.
